  1. new timeout: :idle_timeout 

    default is nil (for backwards compatibility), it governs how long a
connection can remain idle (not having been used), after which, during
checkout, connection will be immediately discarded.

this differs from the keep alive timeout, where the connection will be
pinged for liveness.
