global routing followed by switchbox routing

A while ago, I made a router for creating schematics that operated by dividing the routing area into rectangular regions, globally routed nets bt assigning high-level routes through sets of boxes while avoiding congestion, and then did detailed switchbox routing on each box. All the switchboxes could have been routed in parallel although I didn't do that (ran out of gas).

I'm not suggesting you change your overall approach. Rather, I am thanking you for setting up all this infrastructure so I might one day use what you've done to implement my own ideas for a PCB router. You've already got a working plugin with an interface to the KiCad PCBNEW API, so that's a great jumping-off point for me. I hope others will also see the opportunity.
