I’m experiencing an issue where all of my historical GitHub contributions associated with one of my verified email addresses disappeared from my contribution graph.

My GitHub username:

Affected email:
unknownperson23414@gmail.com

Here is what happened:

On August 6, 2026, at approximately 2:21 AM, I accidentally removed the email address:

unknownperson23414@gmail.com

This email address had previously been used as the author email for many of my Git commits.

Shortly afterward, I added the EXACT SAME email address back to my GitHub account and verified it successfully.

However, after re-adding the email, all historical contributions associated with that email disappeared from my contribution graph.

This is NOT limited to one repository. Contributions from approximately 15+ repositories that were previously attributed to this email are affected.

What I have already done:

1. Re-added the exact same email address to my GitHub account.
2. Successfully verified the email address.
3. Confirmed that the email is currently attached to my GitHub account.
4. Confirmed that the affected commits still exist in the repositories.
5. Confirmed that the affected commits are on the default branch (main).
6. Confirmed that both public and private repository contributions are affected.
7. Waited more than 24 hours after re-adding the email.
8. Checked an affected commit using the .patch URL as recommended by GitHub.
9. The .patch file confirms that the affected commits were authored with:
   From: Sohail Shabbir unknownperson23414@gmail.com
10. I requested GitHub to rebuild my contribution graph through the GitHub Support form.
11. I have already submitted a GitHub Support ticket and received ticket #4641494.

The important point is that the email is now verified and attached to my account, but the historical contributions that were previously associated with this email are still missing.

New commits are appearing correctly, so my account and contribution graph are currently working. The problem appears to be specifically with historical commits created before I removed and re-added the email address.

I have also checked my GitHub email settings and the exact email address is currently present and verified.

Has anyone experienced the same issue after accidentally removing and then re-adding a commit email address?

Is there anything else I can do to restore the historical contributions, or does this require GitHub Support to manually rebuild/re-index the contribution history?

I would really appreciate any advice or confirmation from someone who has experienced this before.

Adding my case here since it matches what I've seen others reporting.

I have 5 merged PRs that meet Pull Shark's criteria (authored by me, merged into the default branch of repos I don't own):

• Add SkyBro getumbrel/umbrel-apps#5835 (merged Jul 20, 2026)
• Fix PreOutputProcessor color-output bugs TeamAntumbra/wintumbra#34
• Fix ColorClock.Stop() to report timeout failure TeamAntumbra/wintumbra#35
• Fix HslColor.A setter clamping to always be 0 TeamAntumbra/wintumbra#36
• Only restart extension pipeline when capture area/bounds actually change TeamAntumbra/wintumbra#37 (all merged Aug 4, 2026)

Verified commit email, "Show Achievements" enabled, no badge ever appeared.

With the "Show Achievements" setting disabled, my profile shows a banner saying "You unlocked new Achievements on GitHub! Show them off by updating your Profile settings" pointing at the general achievements toggle. When I toggled that setting on, the banner changed to a different message: "You unlocked new Achievements with private contributions! Show them off by including private contributions in your Profile settings", pointing at a completely different setting. I enabled that too. Still nothing renders.

So the backend appears to know achievements have unlocked (it's actively telling me so, twice, with two different explanations), but nothing is displaying regardless of which settings are toggled on or off.

I’m experiencing this as well. My GitHub profile is not displaying achievements that I should have unlocked, despite the relevant PRs being merged and my settings being enabled.

This appears to match the profile/achievement rendering issue described here. Happy to provide specific PRs or other details if useful.

I believe my issue may be related to this incident.

My GitHub contribution graph is still showing contributions for commits that have already been removed from my repository history.

The repository is HelloWorld. I accidentally pushed a series of generated commits and later reset main to my last legitimate commit and force-pushed the corrected history.

I have verified that the remote repository is clean:

git log origin/main --grep="test: activity"

returns no results.

git rev-list origin/main | wc -l

returns 2.

There are also no other remote branches containing those commits.

However, the old contribution squares are still visible on my profile, even after more than 48 hours. When I click an affected day, it shows a contribution under HelloWorld, but clicking the commit leads to a page with no commit history because the commit has already been removed.

So the contribution graph appears to be retaining stale contribution data for commits that are no longer present in the repository.

I can provide screenshots of the affected contribution day and the unavailable commit if needed.

The Achievements tab is now accessible on my profile, and I was also able to earn the Quickdraw achievement. However, the Pull Shark achievement is still not showing, despite my two pull requests having been successfully merged. It has now been six days since the qualifying pull requests were merged.

Could you please confirm whether these pull requests meet the requirements for the Pull Shark achievement, or if there is any additional processing or delay that I should be aware of?

Hi team,

I have a bug with my Galaxy Brain achievement link on my profile (@christianalberto).

My 8th accepted answer in wevm/viem#3662 is showing as inaccessible in the history, even though my accepted answer was never deleted and remains public. This happened right after I deleted a secondary, unrelated comment I posted in that same discussion thread.

It seems deleting a secondary comment broke the achievement pointer for the accepted answer in that thread. Could you please run a manual re-sync/re-index on my profile achievements to restore the link?

Hi GitHub team — I’m seeing the same issue on @pku-xht in https://github.com/deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness.

The current master has 204 non-merge, non-empty commits attributed to my account, but the Contributors graph and contribution APIs show only 140.

The missing commits use the same work email that GitHub now links to my account. There is a clear cutoff on August 12: this 02:11 commit is missing, while this 17:07 commit and later commits are counted.

Both commits are on master and resolve to my account. Support directed me to Community. Could you include this account/repo in the investigation and reindex the contribution stats?

Adding a data point that may help narrow this down.

Same symptom as others in this thread: an achievement badge is not appearing despite the qualifying activity being present, with both "Show Achievements on my profile" and "Include private contributions on my profile" enabled.

Two details that may be useful:

1. This looks per-achievement rather than a blanket profile failure. Quickdraw was granted and renders correctly on my profile. Pull Shark has not appeared, 7 days after crossing the two-merged-PR threshold. So whatever is failing isn't taking down the Achievements section as a whole — one badge type is still being granted normally while another is not.

2. The badge is missing from the server-rendered HTML, not just the visual layer. Fetching my profile signed-out with a cache-busting query string returns the Achievements sidebar fully server-rendered, containing only the previously-earned badges. There's no truncation, no "+N" overflow element, and no lazily-loaded fragment. So the missing badge is absent from the response payload itself, rather than being hidden by CSS/JS or served stale from a CDN.

I've confirmed via the REST and GraphQL APIs that the qualifying pull requests are merged into the default branch and attributed to my account.

Adding a reproducible data point for @kanuwrld.

The public Achievements page and server-rendered profile HTML show only Quickdraw. Pull Shark and YOLO do not render, although public qualifying activity appears present and the profile achievement setting is enabled.

Two examples, both authored by kanuwrld, merged into public repositories' default main branch on July 30, and merged with zero reviews:

• feat: add custom redaction policies kanuwrld/flowcasebook#10
• Document direct v0.1.0 installation kanuwrld/repoready#13

GitHub CLI reports both as MERGED; their merge commits are 8792eda6a6d652d38d891d43af941cf48d57a6cb and 617ad3a9c58af634d15819885697b80ae7aacf74. More than three weeks have elapsed.

Current signed-out HTML from https://github.com/kanuwrld?tab=achievements contains Achievement: Quickdraw and no Pull Shark/YOLO entries. This matches other reports where one achievement renders but later qualifying achievements do not.

Please include this account in the achievement indexing/rendering investigation.

“Show Achievements on my profile” is enabled, and my account now has 2FA enabled as well. However, Pull Shark is still not appearing on my public profile.

I currently have at least 3 qualifying pull requests merged into public repositories that I do not own:

All three pull requests were authored by @truman-t3 and successfully merged.

I also appear to meet the conditions for other Achievements, but no corresponding badges are being displayed correctly.
