Option to enable dynamic refresh rate as a selectable mode

I’d love it if G-Helper didn’t automatically disable Windows’ dynamic refresh rate setting when changing between fixed refresh rates (e.g. 60 Hz or 240 Hz). Currently, when switching to 60 Hz or 240 Hz, Windows disables the dynamic refresh rate, even though it clearly detects both frequencies with Overdrive enabled.

It would be amazing if G-Helper allowed choosing a dynamic refresh rate mode as a fourth option — for example, “60 Hz (Dynamic)” or “240 Hz (Dynamic)” alongside Auto, 60 Hz, and 240 Hz. That way, users could benefit from energy savings while still enjoying smooth motion.

Windows API that G-Helper uses to change refresh rates, does not support Dynamic option at all.

But unless you have Auto refresh rate selected - G-Helper won't override any settings automatically. So just set 60 or 240 and after that change it to Dynamic in windows settings, app won't be interfering.

You're completely right. There is actually no interface to change it via commands. That's a pity.

Unfortunately, the DRR automatically switches back off whenever you set it to 240 Hz. This happens either when selecting "240Hz" or in "Auto" mode when the power cable is plugged in.

@Skurios then it's not G-Helper changing it. It would set 240Hz when you click the button manually, but it won't be setting it every time after.

Did you uninstall Asus Smart Display Control app ?

There are two scenarios in G-Helper when I enable DRR in Windows.
First:

When I click on 60 Hz in the first scenario, the setting initially remains in Windows. But if I then click back on Auto, or select 240 Hz, or plug and unplug the cable—actions that ultimately force the refresh rate to 240Hz—the setting disappears.

I am not running any Asus services.

Are both apps the same? RefreshRateService.exe and Asus Smart Display Control? I uninstalled the Asus Smart Display Control app do i need to delete the RefreshRateService.exe?

You can easily delete this one too. G-Helper has everything it needs.

@DrDrooms that's the first time i see RefreshRatService. What kind of laptop do you have ? But as someone has already answered - it's likely another app from asus to do same thing. G-Helper doesn't need any of them to change refresh rate as it just uses windows API.
