ReferenceError: $elem is not defined

Hi... since you merged pull request #7 I'm getting "ReferenceError: $elem is not defined". I'm working through my app to see if I can provide an reproducible example, but I thought you'd want to know in the meantime.

I have the same error on my app. The error consists in var $elem is no longer on global scope. On line 56 when $watch is triggered $elem does not exist.

If you can fix this would be awesome.
