This PR removes the start a new page modal, which offers some patterns the user can choose from. Core now offers equivalent functionality and we can rely on core behaviour.

Other information:

  • Have you written new tests for your changes, if applicable?
  • Have you checked the E2E test CI results, and verified that your changes do not break them?
  • Have you tested your changes on WordPress.com, if applicable (if so, you'll see a generated comment below with a script to run)?

Testing instructions:

  • Create a new page, and verify the WordPress.com start page patterns does not appear, we get the same behaviour as core a side menu on the inserter with the start patterns.

  • To test on Simple, run the following command on your sandbox:
bin/jetpack-downloader test jetpack remove/start-page-modal
bin/jetpack-downloader test jetpack-mu-wpcom-plugin remove/start-page-modal

Looks like this will remove the last usage of the @automattic/page-pattern-modal package:

You should definitely consider removing it from Calypso once this lands.

Hi @tyxla, Yes I plan to remove it from Calypso I already have a PR ready Automattic/wp-calypso#99178 which I will rebase after landing this one.

The wpcom start patterns implementation was removed at Automattic/jetpack#41479. We now rely on the core behavior. This commit tries to update the end-to-end tests to test the core behavior.
