This does not seem to be needed with modern versions of the NVIDIA compilers, and it causes issues with NVHPC 21.9: BlueBrain/CoreNeuron#677.
Once this is merged we can update the submodule in BlueBrain/CoreNeuron#679, which includes a similar patch for the code in CoreNEURON.
