cannot open chapters ipython v0.13

I spent today trying to open chapter 1. I use conda for package management, and work on Ubuntu v14.04. I tried with the most recent version of ipython first, then v0.13 as suggested in the requirements in the README, then v1.0.
The notebook started but refuses to open chapter one's notebook.

I finally switched to jupyter notebook and it worked. I guess it's an issue of documentation more than anything else.
