- Hi, I’m Gabriel Ferreira Angelo. Go Developer at Mercado Libre and creator of Partitura.
- How to reach me: gabriel.feang@gmail.com
- Pronouns: he/him
- About me: I actually graduated in medicine, but acted as a physician for only a few months. Computer viruses are more interesting than human ones... I have loved coding since I was a kid, I think I was 10 when I did my first Game Development course on Adobe Flash, Newgrounds games opened a new world. Also had a few weekend and afternoon classes on 3dsMax, After Effects and Lua. Later at ~13 got familiarized with C# when Unity 3 launched. But approaching highschool I got afraid of the whole "you are gonna be homeless" discourse, and ended up on med school.
- I started getting interested again in programming in my last year at med school, where I had contact with radiology, genetics, and nuclear medicine systems. Initially, it was mostly a hobby. But then I decided to go further and pursue this passion as a career and chose Harvard as my first step into Computer Science due to the great experiences I had with Harvard's Medical School. CS50 is pure beauty.
- I jumped right away into Machine Learning and Tensor Flow to undersand neural networks better. It really is, surprisingly similar to how the brain works. That's when I started what today is Partitura. At the time, I developed my own tool-execution system as well... honestly, more like a 'pattern-detector' that watched stdout from LLM responses and executed certain tools accordingly. Something like
if (parsed_response.contains('tool_run_bash'))and extract parameters with crude regex like(\w+)\((.*?)\), to build a real command and run locally... quite primitive, yeah. But first ideas I had at the time trying to copy Siri's behaviour. For sure, having a global protocol like MCP is way more stable and saved me A LOT of work. But it's always sad to toss work in the trash because someone else developed a better version of it... - Started working at Getnet as a Node.js backend developer.
- Have been working at Mercado Libre for more than a year now, living the dev dream. My love for Go grows stronger every day.
- Launching Partitura has been a big milestone in my mind, it's great to see it working and people who like it. But yes, still a single guy working fulltime on a Big Tech, it's mainly a night-time work. I'll probably not gonna debunk Google by myself in the next few months at this rate. Specially since I'm 100% dependent on their tools for Partitura to work (100% Flutter + Go).
