✨ What's Changed

  • Automatic generation of PAT keys ; no need to go through the dashboard anymore
  • Better UI: Click Helio Action after slicing to trigger a simulation
  • Improved ETA estimates for simulations
  • Added simulation facts and guides to the Orca tooltip
  • Added support for Bambu Lab materials
  • Fixed the known issue where simulation results would reset after loading.

🎯 Feature Scope

This version supports thermal simulation only.
G-code optimisation will be introduced in a future release.

💡 Tooltips

  • When saving a new filament preset for a supported filament, keep the original name and append @ followed by any custom text to ensure the supported filament still works.
  • If you have any previous versions of Orca Slicer with simulations installed, please clear old app data before reinstalling to ensure everything works correctly.

📖 How to Use

Check out our detailed set-up guide here

⚠️ Known Limitations

  • For multi-plate setups, only the first plate can be simulated.
  • H2D is fully supported on our backend, but Orca doesn’t support it yet — hoping the community can help make it available.

What's Changed

  • 🐛 Fix linux build by @maikeriva in #4
  • 🔧 Updated printer and filament profile integration: Helio-specific IDs are now directly embedded into existing Bambu printer and filament profiles. No manual importing is required to activate Helio functionality.

🧪 OrcaSlicer Helio inside (Pre-release v0.1.0-beta)

Welcome to the first pre-release of our Helio-enhanced OrcaSlicer – a customized fork of OrcaSlicer with cloud-based thermal simulation built right in.

🚀 New in this release

🔥 Thermal Simulation Integration

  • Slice as usual or toggle on "Slice with Helio" to generate a full thermal simulation of your print.
  • View layer time dependent temperature directly in the Preview panel, alongside standard slicer settings.
  • Get insight into thermal consistency, cooling behavior, and critical hotspots in your model.

🌐 Cloud-Based Processing

  • Simulation is offloaded to the cloud for fast processing – no local compute needed.
  • Requires internet connection and a personal api key for usage.
  • Simulations are offered for free

🧪 Experimental Features

  • Integrated thermal overlays in the Preview tab.
  • Thermal results viewable layer by layer, road by road or across the full print.

⚠️ Notes

  • This is a pre-release, expect occasional bugs and UI limitations.
  • Feedback is highly appreciated – help shape the future of temperature-aware slicing!

🔧 How to Use

  1. Slice your model as usual.
  2. Enable “Slice with Helio” before slicing.
  3. Once slicing and simulation completes, view the thermal results in the Preview panel.
  4. You can toggle between regular preview parameters and thermal simulation overlays.

💬 Known Issues

  • Simulation data will take a few minutes to load after slicing. Time depends on model size
  • Results are dependent on valid material, printer and ambient temperature settings.
  • Some material or printer ids in the presets package may have errors - let us know if something looks wrong.
  • UI/UX for thermal overlays is in early stages – improvements and suggestions for changes in future versions.
