Setting exact assembly version when compiling

I am using the following command to build the sources:
build.cmd -ConfigurationGroup=Release

However, I would like to set the exact version of the newly compiled libraries. By default, the compiler sets the version of the assemblies to 4.1.0.0, and I would like to set it to 4.0.0.0.
How can I achieve that the easiest way?

Just curious why do you want to downgrade the assembly version? How do you plan to use such build?

I would expect the assembly version to be set by AssemblyVersion entry in the csproj file - i.e. per library.

I am building for Windows 10 IoT ARM on Raspberry Pi3. When I deploy the corefx, coreclr and my ASP.NET Core application, and run it with CoreRun, I have the error when accessing any page on the website:

It also happen on a Console .NET Core app, but then it says that it cannot find the v4.1.0.0 version.

I would personally start digging into what references the 4.0/4.1 ResourceManager in different app types. Version mismatch is usually sign that something is incorrectly deployed.
You might want to compare versions of all binaries between x64 and arm - maybe something on arm doesn't build as it should ...

Now, I am compiling for ARM, on Windows 10 x64, it throws some errors, but .dll's are created...

Ok, you can set the AssemblyVersion by editing the dir.props files. For example, to set the System.Resources.ResourceManager assembly version, edit the following file:

src\System.Resources.ResourceManager\dir.props
