Added items
Four tools added to relevant categories (one per commit):
Online editors — SciTeX Cloud: Self-hostable online editor with AI assistant integration, figure/table/citation management, real-time collaboration, and an MCP server (29 tools).
Misc. Tools — SciTeX Writer: Manuscript compilation system with templates for manuscripts, revisions, and supplementary materials, plus figure, table, and citation handling, and an MCP server (38 tools).
Bibliography tools — CrossRef Local: Local CrossRef database (167M papers) with full-text search, impact factor data, Python API for bibliography enrichment, and an MCP server (15 tools).
Bibliography tools — OpenAlex Local: Local OpenAlex database (284M scholarly works) with abstracts and semantic search for literature discovery, and an MCP server.
All four tools provide MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, enabling AI assistants to interact with them programmatically for automated scientific writing workflows.
Why these are awesome
These tools address gaps in the LaTeX ecosystem: CrossRef Local and OpenAlex Local provide offline, privacy-respecting bibliography search over hundreds of millions of papers with no API rate limits. SciTeX Cloud offers a self-hostable alternative to commercial cloud editors. SciTeX Writer provides a structured compilation workflow for scientific manuscripts with IMRAD structure. All four include MCP servers for AI-assisted research workflows.
Disclosure
I am the author of all four tools. All are FOSS (AGPL-3.0).
