cc @MabezDev I've only removed from the S3. S3 was the only Xtensa SoC with direct-boot option. I am not brave enough to touch the RISC-V lines.
S3 direct boot LDs were broken before, as shown by #797: having global, non-zero initialized data did not compile. Instead of fixing this, Scott's idea was to just get rid of direct boot completely.
