Homekit Bridge broken after Architecture Upgrade

The problem

I updated my Homekit architecture and all devices paired via Homekit Bridge showed as no response.

Removing the integration + homekit home and building everything from scratch seems to work for a bit, but less than a minute later, everything goes back to Not Responding, and then keeps flipping between working and non working.

I'm guessing they changed the UUID formatting again

Unfortunately to fix it we would need to know how the uuid was formatted originally, and since we never saved the original it could mean a breaking change for everyone currently paired which will likely not go over well unless we figure out a way to make it backwards compatible.

https://github.com/ikalchev/HAP-python will need to be updated either way, and the author hasn't been available recently so I'm not sure we can solve this without forking the lib.

It's a weird one, because now it seems to be working, then it goes to Not Responding again, and a minute later it comes back up and works (i.e.: can turn the lights on and off)

It looks like Bridge loses connection, then after a while it pops back online. Would the UUID change cause this?

If its trying to fix the pairings because of 2023-06-03 20:35:24.804 ERROR (MainThread) [pyhap.hap_handler] ('192.168.0.195', 54441): Client dc065fc2-f1a0-4054-9fda-77fcb77437cf attempted pair verify without being paired to Home Assistant Bridge first. it may be dropping the connection

You would have to install the apple homekit developer profile and look at the logs on the ios device to be sure

Another reason is that the mdns records are not being kept alive and when it reaches the ttl, the HAP client disconnects

Tried getting logs with the Dev Profile but no dice, the hotkey combo to trigger the collection doesn't seem to be working.

As for mdns, nothing has changed on my network afaik, so not sure how I'd even begin to diagnose that (Router has been rebooted a couple of times fully, and logs don't show anything weird ongoing, then again, I can't seem to find a lot of documentation regarding mdns with OpenWRT)

Is the home hub on the same subnet as HASS?

It is, everything is under 192.168.0.x, no Vlans as of yet

Heya @bdraco I'm an idiot and forgot that my HASS host likes to jump between access points. I restarted my secondary AP and so far everything seems stable. Feel free to close the issue, and my sincerest apologies for wasting your time.

no worries...its dns ... is always dns. The homekit queue is all mdns 😉
