Really great to have album support in NC25 as described in #1142

I’ve already posted a concept for an extension of that feature, which I called Smart Albums here: #84 (comment)

Since I didn’t get any reply & the corresponding ticket was closed now, I am trying to get a little bit more awareness for this approach by creating a new feature request.

Smart Albums allow the user to individually filter photos and save the filter set as an album. These virtual photo albums aren’t static. Whenever a new photo has been uploaded that matches the filter properties, it is added to the album automatically. By setting variable filters such as dynamic time periods, the entire content of an album may also vary in time. To me this would be a game changer for organizing private or professional photo libraries.

What do you think? Could it be a thing on your roadmap? I would really appreciate such a feature.

I think the metadata UI is really great work! Even clicking on an individual Person(s) or Location(s) which would filter the album accordingly would be great. Jane Cooper in Hamburg with the bike. Or just the photos that have both Jane and Albert in them. Also like the nice rounded image thumbnails, I hope they can be implemented as an option in Photos settings alongside the Enable Squared photos view. Or even the ability to customize spacing and corners :)

I would use this to keep an album of pet photos and then share it with other family members who can add their photos of the pets.
