Invisible drop down button on left panel

The drop down button on the Favorites and Shares section on the left panel only appears on hover, and as a replacement of the initial icon.

I conducted a series of user tests, in which 10 out of 11 users weren't able to find the "Shared with you" category inside Shares because they couldn't see the drop down button. The fact that the main Shares section is clickable also doesn't imply to the user that the section is divided into detailed categories.

I suggest to move the drop down buttons to the right and make them permanent so they can always be visible to the user.
