Sticker pack order is still messed up on all desktop clients when opening a client that was closed during install #7772

Using a supported version?

  • I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

Signal Desktop still massively messes up the order of your sticker packs on all connected desktop clients if you install sticker packs while one desktop (e.g. an alternate OS on the same box) is not open during install of these sticker packs.

And of course, compared to mobile, you still can't order sticker packs on desktop, so the only way to fix this is to uninstall all sticker packs, try to have all desktop clients open at the same time and re-install them all in your prefered order

Steps to reproduce

  1. Uninstall all sticker packs
  2. Have multiple, but not all connected signal desktop apps open (e.g. 3/4)
  3. Install sticker packs in the order you like them
  4. Open the client that wasn't open during install

Expected result

Your prefered order is still the same

Actual result

The order is a complete mess, and you can't fix it

Signal version

8.1.0

Operating system

All of them (Windows, Linux, doesn't matter)

Version of Signal on your phone

8.2.2

Link to debug log

Additional Info:

I reported similar bugs in the past, and I was asked to have all versions up to date (the case), order on the phone which should sync (it doesn't) etc. etc.

It seems you can't fix this order. That's fine, bugs happen. But please, for the love of god, just give us the possibility to order sticker packs on desktop them, so we can fix this mess without having to reinstall 10 packs every single time this happens.

Thank you ♥
