@vsoch From what I can tell by quickly looking through the tutorial I believe it describes in great detail how the process of building a singularity debian package works the involved components etc.
Ideally the generated package is well-suited already for redistribution.

When I want to install singularity on my Ubuntu machine I am less concerned about correct metadata / redistributability. I just want to avoid running a sudo make install and rather generate a package for personal use that I can install in consistent way in my system.

Please tell me if this is what you wanted to know or your question targets at something else?

oh yes, I understand! I really need to get continuous integration set up to be able to preview the content easier.
