AIOC and Allstar issue

Hello All, I followed the guide for setting my AIOC cable as a CM108 module, and i got everything all configured. it boots and transmits my ID over the radio, However im not getting any COS signal. If i manually record the input, i can hear activity, When I key the node radio, the COS label changes in simpleusb, it just does not trigger on rx audio. I tried Allstarlink 3 and Hamvoip. The code on the gentlemans website seems to be out of date, I attempted to refactor it but its above my level. At this point just to get the project working ill use vox in simpleusb if possible

Based on my experience, there are maybe two likely issues:

1. Since you are using hardware version 1.2 make sure you're using firmware version 1.4 or higher. Some of the old guides say to use version 1.3, but it has issues in the new hardware.

2. Make sure you set CTCSSFROM=no to disable CTCSS which isn't supported by the AIOC.

I also recommend checking out AIOC-util for the ability to play with the COS timer.

I'm having a very similar problem with my AIOC and ASL3. I managed to turn on VCOS, but now it acts a bit like it wants to be full duplex. I asked on the AllStar forum already, but I'm not getting a response as of yet.

It starts transmitting as soon as I start transmitting with my HT. It has about a five second cycle, and on shorter transmissions it ends pretty shortly after I stop transmitting. Since I'm doubling I can't really hear what it's doing, but I do hear the courtesy tone when I'm done TX'ing.

I'm setting timctrl to 1500 using aioc-util as I've read elsewhere. To be honest I'm not completely sure what that does, so I'm not sure which way or how I should be adjusting it.

Can you describe your setup? It might be EMI issue related. Do you use a monopole antenna?

Turns out to be a EMI and audio levelling.

I've been using a dummy load, but just to check I switched out the feedline for something much longer and moved the load from about 1m to 3m away. That changed the situation a bit, but did not entirely solve it.

What would happen then is that it would start transmitting as soon as there was a gap in my audio. Guessing that it was audio level related for VCOS, so I cranked the volume on the hotspot HT rather hotter than I was expecting. That took care of it.

I'm a little worried about overdriving it, but I can test that with some other tools, and I suspect can play with vcos-lvlctrl if that turns out to be the case.

I’ve had similar experience with my AIOC(s) running the 1.4 FW. (I tried G1LROs instructions for modifying the FW and making it say that it was a CM108, but still have problems) My last effort with Allstar (ASL3) was trying both the USBRADIO and SimpleUSB and both had the same end result. I can connect/listen and key up the node, but it doesn’t decode any DTMF. When I try it with Direwolf, the RFI kills the USB connection, the HT antenna is mounted outside of the shack and there are fair-rite ferrites on the USB cable. (Tried short/long cables as well) The only real luck I’ve had has been with the URC and running the HT on long audio wires far away from the box, but back when I was trying to get it to work, the challenge I had was the AIOC firmware not playing nicely with the Mac drivers.. I still hope to get this working some day.. 73 de K6EF
