MacOS Sierra issues

I have used shuttle for over a year without issues but now on my mac I am not able to use it since Sierra.

i run sshuttle -r ubuntu@IPaddr 127.0.0.1 -vv -e "ssh -A -i /Users/username/mykey"
Starting sshuttle proxy.

I get this and nothing else Sometimes it will connect after 5 or so minutes most times nothing at all.

Sorry for a lack of details but this is all i ever get.

my version of shuttle originally was from Brew
I did a brew uninstall and
cloned this and did setup.py install from root
still no luck.

Any help would be appreciated. I use shuttle daily :-)

Eventually in this case after 6 minutes verbose mode starts and I see this and the tunnel is working
This is occurring to multiple linux servers. even ones that have worked for over a year without issues.

I only ever use 127.0.0.1 i use this mostly to allow me to VNC to cloud machines without opening 5901...
I then vnc to 127.0.0.1:5901
worked across 3 cloud environments for the past year and just recently when I had to upgrade to Sierra this started to happen.
I have uninstalled shuttle and am not running this clone. it connects but after 5 minutes lag.

when I do the ssh command
ssh -i mykey -p 22 ubuntu@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -L 5901:localhost:5901 sleep 2h
the tunnel comes up automatically.

The thing I like about shuttle is it tears the sessions down so easily...

an idea's are welcome!

Sorry for taking so long to reply, completely forgot about this 😞

Can you try the following command instead:

sshuttle -r ubuntu@IPaddr 0/0:5901 -vv -e "ssh -A -i /Users/username/mykey"

and then you can try to connect to 5901 of any machine that is reachable via IPaddr (including IPaddr itself).

Note: I think you need to use HEAD as the option to forward ports is a recent addition to sshuttle.

Just noticed what is happening here. The client is expecting a list of routes, however it gets a 0 length response instead. The onroutes function gets confused with a 0 length response, and tries to parse routes from it, which fails with an error.

The confusion in onroutes occurs because of the following behaviour of the split function:

['']

So could be two issues here:

1. Why are routes not getting returned?
2. We should not crash if no routes are getting returned.

I found it works unreliably, and in the output I get a lot of lines like:

c : Rejected incoming connection: too many open files!

I don't know if this is related, or helpful.

Hey guys. I'm having issues using sshuttle on macOS Sierra 10.12.6. I tried version 0.78.3 and either install from source (ver. 0.78.4.dev6+g2fa0cd0). I'm not getting any error sshuttle even says that's connected but I can't access subnets. Has anyone got luckx getting sshuttle working on latest macOS? Full log is attached in the following paste. I'd appreciate your help.

@brianmay 2. should be fixed by #175.

However I could not easily reproduce 1. I can see from the output that the server reported no routes, so there is no surprise that the client gets an empty list of routes.

For the server to be unable to get any routes either ip route returns nothing, the server is some BSD and netstat -rn returns nothing or the output is something we have not seen before and are not parsing correctly. Or @noizo has some weird network configuration on the server he is using.

I have tested connecting to a linux server (Ubuntu 16.04) and to a freebsd one (freebsd11). Both worked and returned a list of routes.

@noizo Could you please share the output of ip route or, if the previous command does not exist in your server, netstat -rn?
