For a minimal PR, it should be NVCC_FLAGS, not NVCC_FLAGS_COMMON. My fork uses NVCC_FLAGS_COMMON because there are a lot of other changes (and in this repo there have been a lot of PRs doing a big refactor of setup.py...)
