Add a slight opacity gradient to app icons

This is just for aesthetic/branding purposes.

This example is from 100-80% opacity from top to bottom, which it seems like meets the contrast standards, for gradients, they are quite permissive.

I currently do not think this is possible, as app icons are not normal icons where we can set the color.
Instead - due to legacy reasons - app icons are just images where we cannot adjust much (except that we invert the image if we are using dark theme).

You could also use png images for legacy reasons 😓

To proper implement this - and in general I think it makes sense - we would need to deprecate using any other images than SVGs and then we can apply them similar as mentioned in this RFC (but of course a different bundle). Then we could apply any gradient we like.

Couldn't it be done with an alpha mask instead? So: instead of changing the color of the icons directly, leave their color and on the layer which they are on, apply a gradient mask.

PS: I understand that "masking layers" is very much designer lingo but as far as I can understand, CSS has masks :)
