Hey, I'm Bastian Köcher I'm a core developer working on Substrate/Polkadot/Cumulus since September 2018. I started working on Substrate runtime, back then still called SRML. My first contributions were around the macros that over time evolved to the FRAME macros that we have today. I also have implemented the first versions of frame metadata. Other major contributions back then were the runtime api as we now it today from Substrate and later the runtime interface of Substrate as well. One of my major contributions are the design and implementation of Cumulus. I took over the project and transformed it into a working SDK for writing Parachains. While doing this I have fixed and rewritten multiple things in Substrate to make them work with/for Parachains. I also helped out ironing out bugs in the Parchains v0/v1 implementation.

Given some discussions I had with others, I would now like to apply for rank 6. As seen by me contributions above, I have contributed to various parts of the Polkadot ecosystem. I also designed quite a lot of systems or helped designing them with giving reviews and feedback.

I'm aware that given the manifesto, my time at working at Polkadot doesn't match. However, the last 4 years actually feel more like 10 years to me. We achieved so many things and I have contributed so many things that I can not even remember all of them. I think that I also played a role on helping a lot of people on getting up to speed with developing on Substrate by helping in DMS, in chatrooms, on stackexchange, on github in a lot of reviews. One of the key areas I still need to improve is to write technical articles.
