It seems like this feature would better serve users if we integrated it into the initial WordPress setup page (possibly where you enter your site title and credentials). Changing permalinks is a global settings with lots of considerations (existing content links, external links that could break, etc). After they change, proper 301 redirects would need to be mapped out and created, which is outside the knowledge or capability of novice users. The permalink setting should rarely, if ever be changed once the site is setup, so adding it into every existing or new content doesn't make a lot of sense from a UI / UX perspective either. There's no other globally accessible settings that i'm aware of that we're offering the ability to change from the content editor. |
This was a late addition and needs a bit more time and work to introduce properly (like handling capabilities). Let's remove it for now.
